Rising Stars of Research

Rising Stars of Research is a cross-disciplinary undergraduate research conference in Canada.

RSR Update
For 3 years it has been UBC’s great pleasure to host Rising Stars of Research. As organizers we have continuously been thrilled about the outstanding quality of applicants and participants alike. We would like to thank everyone for their interest in the event, their participation and their support which has made RSR such a wonderful and exciting event.

In 2011 we suspended the event due to other pressing priorities for budget and personnel. Unfortunately, the situation has not changed significantly in 2012 and we will not be able to continue Rising Stars at present. However, UBC continues its strong commitment to student research via our Undergraduate Research Opportunities group, and within our outstanding graduate programs. Best wishes in your ongoing journey as researchers!

The full list of RSR 2010 award winners is available at www.risingstars.ubc.ca/history/rsr-2010.

Rising Stars of Research (RSR) is an exciting and unique event which brings top undergraduate researchers from across Canada to BC to showcase their research accomplishments and explore their passion for innovation. All RSR events take place on the spectacular University of British Columbia campus. The centrepiece of “RSR” is a research poster competition and includes workshops, talks from outstanding faculty researchers, facility tours, and of course, a great time in beautiful British Columbia.

Students must apply and be chosen to attend RSR. Participation is limited to 120 students from Canada (regional limits apply), with special guests from approved international partner universities. The RSR registration fee is $100 which covers on-campus accommodation (three nights), food and other event costs. Every selected participant will also be eligible to receive travel support of up to $500 (fixed rates depending on residence by province).
