Rising Stars of Research is a cross-disciplinary undergraduate research conference in Canada.
RSR 2011 Update
RSR has been a tremendous success since its inception in 2008. With nearly 1,200 applicants and more than 300 participants over the past three years, we know that the event fills an important niche in showcasing the best in Canadian undergraduate research, and has become a highly anticipated opportunity for Canada’s most outstanding young investigators.
Due to other staff commitments, Rising Stars of Research will be on hiatus for 2011 and will return in 2012.
We recognize this will be a disappointment for the many excellent students who were hoping to participate in 2011 and we regret that we can’t make this opportunity available to you this year. We are committed to resuming RSR in 2012.
Thank you for your support and interest. Stay tuned for news about RSR 2012!

Rising Stars of Research (RSR) is an exciting and unique event which brings top undergraduate researchers from across Canada to BC to showcase their research accomplishments and explore their passion for innovation. All RSR events take place on the spectacular University of British Columbia campus. The centrepiece of “RSR” is a research poster competition and includes workshops, talks from outstanding faculty researchers, facility tours, and of course, a great time in beautiful British Columbia.
Students must apply and be chosen to attend RSR. Participation is limited to 120 students from Canada (regional limits apply), with special guests from approved international partner universities. The RSR registration fee is $100 which covers on-campus accommodation (three nights), food and other event costs. Every selected participant will also be eligible to receive travel support of up to $500 (fixed rates depending on residence by province).
